A small team of people from across the opera house were involved in this unusual project which took place in 2 locations – onstage and in the Floral Hall. It was a huge amount of fun, and ended with the consumption of enormous choux pastry swans served by waiters dressed as Russian folk peasants. My bit was to make the Floral Hall look like a Russian forest with 24 birch trees, some of which reached the height of the colonnades; the table settings were exquisite! The evening was instrumental in raising a substantial sum to fund various ROH projects.
